4 Month Checkup & Giggles
Isa had her 4 month checkup last night, complete with the next round of shots which she took like a champ. The doc was impressed. "She may be a preemie, but she's tough!"
We discussed starting solids. For some reason I'm extremely excited about this next step.
What she can eat:
ALL veggies- nothing is off limits
Fruits with the exception of anything with the potential to be sour, citrus fruits, and berries
Cereal
While the doc was examining the babes, mommy got kudos for a great job keeping her folds clean. "This is difficult. You're doing great!" He rotated all the body parts to make sure they were still intact. As he's rolling her hips what does she do?....GIGGLES! 1st time ever. Hip rolling is apparently funny. Every other thing we've been trying just gets a simple smile or blank stare. Hip rolling is where it's at. "The hips don't lie.." Very true Shakira
Stats:
Weight: 11 lbs 9.5 oz
Height: 24 in
Head: 16 in
Chest: 15.5 in

P is for Pneumonia
It turned out that Isa didn't just have a little cold. Add in a fever and wheezing lungs and you have bronchiolitis. The ped gave her a nebulizer and said to watch for a spike in fever and worsening of the cough.
The next day her fever got a little higher. Once it reached 101 we took another trip to the ped who sent us for a chest X-ray and blood work. The chest X-ray confirmed she had pneumonia in both lungs. So in addition to the nebulizer three times a day, she was to start taking amoxicillin.
Skip ahead almost a week later, the little peanut is back to her crazy self, loud, ear-piercing cry and all.

Not a Happy First
Isa has her first real cold. Yes she had a cough and sniffles before, but I consider this real because it's accompanied by a slight fever. Tylenol administered and it came down a bit. We're going to try the voodoo technique that Tootsie told us about- baby Vicks on the pigs. Results to come.
The only plus of a sick baby- lots of snuggles.
Isa's fever crept up a bit today so we took a trip to the doctor. Verdict: she has bronchiolitis. They gave her a fancy new nebulizer for treatments 3 times a day. Her fever started going down some before bedtime. Hoping the peanut starts feeling better soon πΆπ

Cramming a lot into a Little
By the time Isa and I get home after work it's about 6pm. This leaves a very short window of time we get to spend together. Everything else takes a back burner (even my starving husband if he's home).
Tonight I managed to squeeze a few smiles and non-crying moments out of her before bed.
